Dara Caponigro, editor-in-chief of Hearst Magazines’ upscale home-and-shelter bimonthly Veranda since April 2010, announced on May 16 that she will be stepping down during the fall. The reason that she gave in a statement was a desire to spend more time with her family.

Caponigro’s successor will be named by House Beautiful editor-in-chief Newell Turner in his added capacity of Hearst Design Group editorial director (since Oct. 2012). Caponigro will be helping in the job search.

Her own résumé includes Domino style director throughout its 2005-2009 run and several executive positions during 12 years at House Beautiful.

Veranda‘s 264.90 ad pages in first-half 2013 are +4.63% versus first-half 2012’s 253.17.
