BIOGRAPHYJohn Alderman
In addition to his leadership role at Slate, Alderman serves as Vice President of Business Development at Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. Overseeing the Business Development team, Alderman supports and grows WPNI’s six properties through new partnerships and ventures. These strategic business relationships help give WPNI’s content, tools and technologies more exposure across the web, increasing traffic and creating non-traditional opportunities to generate revenue. Prior to WPNI, Alderman was Vice President of Business and Product Development at The Away Network, a Cendant Company. Alderman received his master’s of Business Administration at Columbia Business School in June 2000. Prior to that, he served in various roles in editorial and business development at Outside magazine. Alderman’s strong publishing background gives him a unique understanding of editorial content and technology, and his forward-thinking strategy seeks out innovation. Alderman currently serves on the board at Grist, a Seattle- based non-profit Web site that focuses on environmental news and commentary. Alderman received an A.B. from Harvard College and currently lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife Alexandra and Australian Cattle Dog Lola. |
