2010 Most Intriguing People in Media: Robert Sauerberg

Robert Sauerberg

President, Condé Nast

Condé Nast’s traditional advertising/circulation model fits a company run by the Newhouse family, where ink has been in the veins since the 1920s. But the world is changing, which CN CEO Chuck Townsend acknowledged in July 2010 when he bequeathed the presidency to group publisher/consumer marketing Bob Sauerberg. His mission: “Move the company to a new business model focused around digital connectivity, technological development and consumer insight.” Since then, Sauerberg has announced a partnership with Adobe to produce digital apps and switched much of the digital authority to individual publishers. All of Sauerberg’s strategies are leading CN into the future. ● —SC

What will be intriguing in 2011: “As touch-enabled devices start to reach scale, media consumption will be greatly impacted. We are seeing remarkable engagement with the apps Condé Nast has introduced to date.”
