When Twitter exploded in popularity and public interest earlier this year, many industry pundits wondered if the microblogging network could be successfully monetized. The prescient Samir Arora then launched Tinker.com, which aggregates content from Twitter, Facebook and other platforms for users seeking to follow specific topics of interest; for advertisers, it allays apprehension by offering a filter that will enable them to avoid negative posts. So far, it’s too early to quantify ROI but if Arora’s record is to be used as a precedent to judge this new initiative, there’s little doubt he has another jewel to add to his crown of achievements.
