Since starting his Silicon Valley blog, TechCrunch.com, in 2005, California native Michael Arrington has become an unstoppable force in the digital/social media landscape. His red-hot scoops and exclusives on the goings-on in the tech world have become the techno equivalent to TMZ crossed with the AP newswire. No surprise that the unusually low-profile Arrington was chosen by Time magazine in 2008 as one of the most influential people in the world. Wired and Forbes have also lavished similar citations. Noting the scale and reach of TechCrunch—as of July 2009, it had over 3.3 million RSS feed subscribers—the profuse praise is no mere hyperbole. Recently, Technorati, which tracks the most influential bloggers, named TechCrunch as one of its top three blogs.
