Judging by the seeming infinitude of his job responsibilities, there probably isn’t enough hours in the day for Tom Harty. Widely considered one of the most respected leaders in the media industry, Harty daily dispatches complex tasks such as overseeing over $500 million in revenue for Meredith’s publishing group without so much as breaking a sweat. Three years ago, Harty created Meredith 360, which brought together all Meredith assets for clients, setting a standard for other media companies when it comes to multiplatform programs. He has also proven to be a beacon of calm and strength during a stormy period for magazine publishing, growing advertising market share for Meredith during the first half of ’09 at a 4% increase versus the year before. Overseeing unique integrated initiatives such as “My Colorful Life,” which Meredith 360 created for Maybelline and which includes a provocative Web series written by Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, has played no small role Harty’s success.
