As president and co-founder of TMG (formerly the Magazine Group), Jane Ottenberg is a pioneer and star in the one area of magazine publishing that’s still growing: custom media. Having started TMG with husband and partner Richard Creighton almost 30 years ago with one client and one magazine, Ottenberg now oversees a multimedia company that produces 440 magazine and online issues per year, reaching more than 200 million people. Although she is still very much an impassioned champion of print, Ottenberg, who has overseen custom publications such as Northwestern Mutual’s Creative Living and Cleveland Clinic magazine, has diversified her offerings from straight print publications to 360-degree integrated programs that encompass online videos and digital/social media programs.
