Tailgating 2.0: SI and Nissan Launch 10 College Hi-Tech TourWednesday, September 7, 2011 There will be more than wings cooking in stadium parking lots this fall as the Sports Illustrated Heisman Trophy Tour Presented by Nissan brings ultra-tech wizardry to 10 college campuses this football season. The traveling installation will include RFID bracelets that will help send images directly to a visitor’s Facebook page, a skills challenge that uses gesture technology to control the action, HD touch screen kiosks and a live trivia game show at each stop. Frank Wall, VP and publisher Sports Illustrated calls it “the most digitally advanced tailgate in college football history.” The event will be fully integrated with existing SI assets in print and online. 2D mobile codes will be embedded in weekly issues that will unlock bonus footage from interviews with team players. The interviews themselves will be crowd sourced and come from the social community. A new Heisman Watch column is being added to SI.com in time for the tour The tour started last week at the LSU v. Oregon game in Arlington, Texas and will conclude on December 3 at the Big Ten Championship. Nissan has sponsored SI college football tailgating experiences for the past five years. The aim of this sponsorship in particular is to demonstrate the auto brand’s technological prowess. Take min's fun quiz and find out how magazine-savvy you are! COMMENTS
