2010 IMA Awards: Print/Video
Winner: Inventors Digest - NCIIA Web Video Challenge
Leave it to inventors to come up with a creative multi-platform initiative. Investors Digest teamed up with the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance in 2010 for NCIIA’s annual March Madness for the Mind conference, and conceived a people’s choice-type Web video awards contest that would culminate in a live event in March 2010 at San Francisco’s Exploratorium. This was the first time the conference had a head-to-head competition, which pitted teams of college and college-bound students against each other as they offered their own low-cost energy solutions via Web video submissions.
Inventors Digest promoted the competition in its print version, and promoted the video clips via social media as well, as did NCIIA. More than 25,000 unique visitors came to the Inventors Digest during the three-week voting period in March, 4,000 unique votes were cast and the magazine got at 25% spike in print subscriptions that month. And at the Exploratorium, local media showed up to report on the announcement of the winning team. And speaking of winning teams, Inventors Digest and NCIIA plan on future partnerships.Steve Goldstein
