Siegel Named Advance 'Local Digital Strategy' Prez

Randy Siegel, Parade president since 2003, starts his new job as president/local digital strategy for Parade parent Advance Publications on Feb. 1. As such, he remains employed by the Newhouse family and will report to Advance.Net chairman Steve Newhouse, who is in charge of digital strategy company-wide—including Condé Nast (S.I. Newhouse, Jr., is his uncle). The job, which will have Siegel working closely with Advance Internet president Peter Weinberger, will be to implement and expand the digital strategies at the company's newspapers. They include the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Newark Star Ledger, New Orleans Times Picayune, Portland Oregonian and Syracuse Post-Standard.

Siegel's leaving Parade is not a surprise—Si Newhouse passed him over last spring with the hire of Jack Haire (ex-Time Inc. executive VP/corporate sales) as chairman/CEO. And in October, Siegel ceded his publisher's responsibilities to Brett Wilson (ex-USA Today).  But clearly, he is seen as valuable to the company.  "We're glad that we are continuing to benefit from Randy's immense talents," says Steve Newhouse.
