Magazine 'Matrix' Winner Is Gayle King

New York Women in Communications has announced the 2010 Matrix Awards, which go to women in eight media/entertainment disciplines. Magazine recipient is O editor-at-large Gayle King. The longtime friend of Oprah Winfrey (godmother to King's two children) has been instrumental in the success of O, which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in May.  The former former TV news anchor in Hartford, Conn., also hosts The Gayle King Show on Winfrey's Sirius XM Radio channel.

Being honored with King at the April 19 luncheon at New York's Waldorf Astoria are:

♦ Susan Chira, New York Times foreign editor.
♦ Sheryl Crow, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter.
♦ Tina Fey, actress/comedienne and 30 Rock executive producer/head writer.
♦ Ina Garten,  Barefoot Contessa host (Food Network) and House Beautiful contributor.
♦ Doris Kearns Goodwin, Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer of Lincoln, FDR, LBJ, with Teddy Roosevelt on deck.
♦ Anne Keating, Bloomingdale's senior VP/public relations, special events and corporate philanthropy.
♦ Marissa Mayer, Google VP/search products and user experience.

NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams will emcee the luncheon. Past magazine Matrix recipients include Anne Moore (Time Inc.), Anna Wintour (Vogue), Pamela Fiori (Town & Country) and Dana Cowin (Food & Wine).
