Lauren Purcell Named Every Day with Rachael Ray Editor-in-ChiefMonday, December 19, 2011 Lauren Purcell, who as Self executive editor (Condé Nast) was the top lieutenant to Lucy Danziger, was hired Dec. 16 by Meredith National Media Group (MNMG) executive VP Tom Witschi to fill the two-month editor-in-chief vacancy at Every Day with Rachael Ray. That occurred Oct. 13, when Liz Vaccariello ended an 11-month stint in becoming Reader's Digest chief content officer in advance of Reader's Digest Association's Oct. 31 sale to Meredith.Purcell will join Every Day with Rachael Ray on Jan. 9, 2012, which will be near the editorial close of the Jan./Feb. 2012 issue (the first under the MNMG ownership), which will be on newsstands Jan. 29. She completes the Every Day with Rachael Ray leadership in joining publisher Christine Guilfoyle, who moved from More following the MNMG acquisition Every Day with Rachael Ray was launched by RDA in Nov. 2005, 10 months before Rachael Ray got her syndicated tv show. After thriving for years, the 10-times-a-year/1.7 million rate-base magazine hit an advertising snag in 2011 with a -21.23% page differential.
