MIN FEATURE PERSON
Klingensmith Named Minneapolis Star Tribune Publisher Career highlights include being Entertainment Weekly founding publisher (1990) and Sports Illustrated president (1996) and corporate executive VP (2002), where he served until leaving the company in January 2008. Departure ended speculation that Klingensmith would succeed Time Inc. president (since July 2002) Ann Moore. Klingensmith's Time Inc. career won him induction into min's Advertising/Sales Hall of Fame in June 2009. Post-Time Inc., Klingensmith was AdMedia Partners managing director until his selection by Star Tribune chairman Mike Sweeney to succeed Chris Harte, who resigned last September after the newspaper emerged from bankruptcy. Harte's family had co-owned the 304,543 circulation daily (April-September 2009 Audit Bureau of Circulations average) with Avista Capital Partners when the Chapter 11 filing was made in January 2009. New ownership is the newspaper's secured creditors (including Credit Suisse), as settled through U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge Robert Drain. He is also the judge in Reader's Digest Association's bankuptcy proceedings, which may end with RDA's emergence on Jan. 15 (min, January 4 and 11, 2010). COMMENTS
