Sanders succeeds Richard Beckman, who ended a 10-month stint last week to become president/CEO of the newly formed e5 Global Media (Billboard, Hollywood Reporter, etc.).Announcement ends a weeklong parlor game that had several CN executives as candidates, led by publishing directors David Carey, Tom Florio and Bill Wackermann. Sanders benefited from her fashion experience at Lucky and as 2003-2008 Teen Vogue founding publisher, and perhaps also from the perception that her getting the Fairchild job was seen as a promotion. That would be more debatable for the others mentioned. The job, which Sanders starts on Feb. 1, puts her in charge of Women's Wear Daily, wwd.com, Footwear News, Fairchild Summits (events) and Fairchild Books. W publisher Nina Lawrence had reported to Beckman, but, for now, that will not continue under Sanders. Instead, Lawrence reports to Townsend. COMMENTS
