Gabrielson to Succeed Bullard as USA Weekend President  capacities since 1996.Major change for Gabrielson is that promoted-in-October 2009 USAW executive editor Brenda Turner now reports to him. Although Gabrielson will remain based in New York, he has an office at USAW's and parent Gannett Co.'s editorial and corporate headquarters in McLean, Va., where he commutes to at a minimum of once a week. He tells min to look for more integrated platforms between Sunday newspaper magazine USAW (distributed in about 600 newspapers with a 22.6 million cumulative rate base), the daily USA Today and Gannett. USAW has been on a +20% ad-revenue clip in early 2010 (min, January 18, 2010). Bullard has been with USAW since Gannett bought the former Family Weekly in 1985 and changed the name. She was promoted to editor-in-chief in 1989, and in that capacity three years later she launched Make a Difference Day, which was inspired by the first President Bush's Points of Light Foundation. Make a Difference Day has become an October perennial, with 3 million volunteers in 2009 and corporate support. Since 1994, hundreds of thousands of dollars of honoraria have been donated by the Newman's Own Foundation, which is now a legacy of the late actor Paul Newman. Gabrielson, who pre-USAW worked at Advertising Age and what is now the Westchester, N.Y., Journal News, was inducted into min's Sales Executive Hall of Fame in June 2009. COMMENTS
