Catherine Sharick Promoted to Time.com Managing EditorWednesday, January 18, 2012 Yesterday (Jan. 17), Time managing editor (since June 2006) Rick Stengel announced the promotion of Time.com executive editor Catherine Sharick to managing editor of the site. Sharick fills the vacancy created by the September  2011 promotion of Jim Frederick to Time International editor."There is no one who knows more about Time.com's operations than Cathy Sharick," says Stengel. "There is no one more digitally fluent....And there is no one who has contributed more to making Time.com a success--including three record-breaking months of traffic and [an] 11% growth in visitors to the site last year. "[Cathy] has led our growth in social media and increased user engagement, which includes 3 million-plus followers on Twitter, a hugely popular Facebook page and the launch of two highly praised Tumblr accounts and our new board on Pininterest....She leads by example, by her deep knowledge and understanding and abiding sense of fairness. She is devoted to Time, to what we stand for, and to the highest standards of excellence. She has helped to bring us where we are today, and she will guide us into the future."
