Carolyn Veith Krienke Named Scholastic Parent & Child Art DirectorThursday, January 19, 2012 Carolyn Veith Krienke, Martha Stewart Weddings senior art director since 2009, was hired Jan. 13 by Scholastic Parent & Child editor-in-chief (since Dec. 2008) Nick Friedman to fill the magazine's art director vacancy. Mike Strong  .JPG) had been serving in an acting capacity.Veith Krienke is also a past Real Simple senior designer, and she was on the 2005 launch team at the parents-targeted Cookie (ceased publication in Oct. 2009). Says Friedman: "Carolyn's creative vision, bringing brighter pages and stronger imagery to the magazine, results in a playful yet sophisticated publication for today’s modern mom.” That Veith Krienke is a mom with eight- and four-year-old children makes her "endemic" to P&C. She is probably the only consumer magazine art director with a masters in biomedical visual communication from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
