Braue Named SVP, Group Director of CMP’s Light Reading, and more people news.... Tech industry-targeted media company CMP announced October 2 that Joseph Braue, previously svp for CMP Integrated Marketing Solutions, has been appointed senior vice president and group director of Light Reading, an online communications industry publication. Light Reading also operates HeavyReading, a telecommunications research firm, produces industry events, and recently launched Contentinople, which covers the digital content media and distribution industry. It operates as a unit of CMP, a subsidiary of United Business Media since 2005. CMP reports that their Integrated Marketing Solutions experienced 300% growth over three years during Braue’s tenure there, and FOLIO named him one of the “Top 40 Influencers in Magazine Publishing in 2005.” Previously, Braue was VP and group publisher for Data Communications magazine, and founded tele.com magazine in 1996. Garden & Gun Adds to Marketing and Sales Staff Southern lifestyle magazine Garden & Gun has announced the addition of Alexandra Carton and Brittney Forrister as account executives in the sales department, and Duvall Osteen as marketing assistant. They join the new title, launched by the Charleston, SC-based Evening Post Publishing Company, in its sixth month of publishing. Carton, most recently a sales representative for Working Mother magazine, has worked in sales and consumer marketing for seven years. She served as a consumer products manager at MediZine Health Education Marketing, and as a representative for Weight Watchers Magazine during its relaunch. Fellow G&G account exec Brittney Forrister joins the magazine from Metro Magazine of Raleigh, NC, where she spent three years as a sales representative. Forrister holds a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. New marketing hire Duvall Osteen is a recent Rhodes College graduate. She worked in events marketing for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis before signing on with G&G. Universal McCann Hires Rob Frydlewicz as SVP, Director of Media Research Frydlewicz, who stepped down as vice president, director of research at media research firm Carat eighteen months ago, now returns to the media industry as senior vice president, director of media research at Interpublic’s Universal McCann. During his hiatus, Frydlewicz operated RAF Consulting, working with clients such as Mediamark Research Inc., Project Apollo, and the Council of Better Business Bureaus. Now reporting to Universal McCann director of consumer insights Graeme Hutton, Frydlewicz fills a position left empty by Susan Nathan, a long-time McCann employee who left in late August to join Turner Broadcasting as vice president, media currency. Her move continued an ongoing trend marked by the departures of high-level media research executives, many of whom have left the industry altogether. Frydlewicz’s return to Madison Avenue makes his an unusual case. COMMENTS
