B2B FEATURE PERSON
Snyder Stepping In as Crain’s Chicago Business publisherThursday, September 16, 2010 David Snyder has been tapped to replace the retiring David Blake as publisher of Crain’s Chicago Business. Snyder currently serves as associate publisher and will take responsibility for all operations beginning Oct. 15. Blake will retire at the end of the year after 29 years with Crain’s, including the past 10 as publisher. “Dave Snyder has been involved with every facet of our business over the years. He is more than ready to assume the mantle,” said Rance Crain, the publication’s founder and editor-in-chief, in a statement. Snyder joined Crain’s in 1983, working as a researcher, reporter and editor until he became editor of the paper in 1993. He was named general manager/interactive in 2000, and directed a relaunch of Crain’s website, ChicagoBusiness.com. He became associate publisher in 2004. “Crain’s has a legacy of valuing publishers who support independent and thoughtful journalism,” Snyder said. “Making Crain’s even more indispensable to our readers and advertisers—in print, online and through events—will be central to everything I do.” In the coming months, Blake will assist Crain’s' launch of a new online and event business focusing on the region’s healthcare economy, along with publishing, event and video offerings. After Jan. 1, Blake will start his own business, called The New Center for Chicago Business History. Take min's fun quiz and find out how magazine-savvy you are! COMMENTS
