B2B FEATURE PERSON
Kimmel Named Direct Marketing Association CEOMonday, July 26, 2010 Lawrence M. ("Larry") Kimmel, the former chairman/CEO of Grey Direct Global Network (2000-2008), was appointed to the same capacity today (July 26) at the Direct Marketing Association. Kimmel fills a six-month vacancy created when 2004-2010 predecessor John Greco resigned on Jan. 18, with Direct reporting that DMA board member Gerry Pike accused Greco of violating organization bylaws by increasing his salary at a time with the organization "made substantial personnel cuts." With that tempest, it was no surprise that Kimmel's selection came after what was believed to be the most extensive search in the DMA's 93-year history. Pre-Grey Direct, Kimmel served seven years in senior management at Draft Worldwide and founded Unimark, a direct marketing, promotion and advertising agency. He starts at DMA Aug. 2, but spent this morning greeting staff members personally in New York (where he will be based) and by teleconference in Washington, D.C.
