B2B FEATURE PERSON
IDG’s Bob Carrigan Appointed IAB Board ChairmanTuesday, February 1, 2011 Bob Carrigan, CEO of IDG Communications (and member of min’s Digital Hall of Fame) has been appointed chairman of the board of directors for the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). Carrigan succeeds David J. Moore, founder of 24/7 Real Media. Carrigan has served on the IAB board for five years and was made member of its executive committee in 2010. Carrigan takes the post at a time of transition for the online advertising industry’s key association. The group lost its longstanding CEO Randall Rothenberg in December as he moved to Time Inc. and the newly created post of chief digital officer. A search committee has been formed to find a replacement. The IAB has a series of strategic objectives laid out for the coming year including improving online ad measurement, bringing brand ad dollars online, privacy protection, a mobile marketing push and the simplification of the supply chain and the complexity surrounding online ad buying. Carrigan has successfully led his b2b publishing company into the digital age. As he told min’s b2b late last year, almost half of IDG’s publishing revenue is from digital sources. The company has launched its own ad network and deploys some of the most sophisticated ad targeting systems of any business information publisher.
