Cygnus Launches Stage 2 of ReorgFriday, October 29, 2010 After announcing last summer that it was reorganizing around four “affinity groups,” Cygnus Business Media has initiated the second phase of the project involving the company’s construction group. Kris Flitcroft will lead this group after having been the construction network’s brand director. In addition to reshaping the construction assets, this phase also involves reengineering Cygnus’ digital assets and strategic alliances, the company says. Cygnus has already hired (as of last June) a new head of digital, EVP, digital, Tom Kohn, formerly of USA Today and AOL. Eric Kammerzelt will serve as VP of technology and Paul Caplan will be VP of digital revenues. Jacob Bare is director of digital intelligence. Also included in this phase of the reorganization is the appointment of Robert Brice as SVP, Cygnus Expositions; Brice had been running the fire and EMS media group. Back in July, Cygnus announced it was going to focus on affinity groups for aviation, safety and security, building and construction, and agriculture. The idea was to have executives in each group who had responsibility for all cross-platform assets in that area so that individual content brands would not be segregated from one another and there would be more opportunity for cross-property sales.
