Sabrina Crow knew in college that she wanted to work in media. She started an arts and features magazine while in school, and also worked on a literary magazine. Her first job out of college was at Hanley Wood, where she worked with Mike Hanley and Mike Wood, who, Crow says, were "exceptional leaders--creative and innovative."

It was her job running the night production operation for the Miami Herald that seasoned Crow. While it was challenging to put out 500,000 copies of a 112-page daily, today--as SVP of Nielsen Business Media's marketing and media group--she says that having had to do that accurately and in a timely manner was excellent training for the digital revolution.

Crow was at the Miami Herald for 10 years. It was during this time that she learned that publishing is all about people. On August 24, 1992, Hurricane Andrew struck Homestead, Fla., just south of Miami. Nearly 250,000 Floridians were rendered homeless overnight, according to reports, and, says Crow, the Miami Herald was their only lifeline.

By remembering that people are the bottom line, Crow approaches her job--which includes a portfolio of more than 20 brands across many markets, including AdWeek, BrandWeek and MediaWeek--with innovation, creativity and a passion to execute projects in an environment where people learn best practices from each other.

Crow and her team relaunched AdWeek Feb. 4 as a brand in an effort to develop it into a robust digital presence and, according to her, early indications show that online subscriptions and revenue are up dramatically. She is also proud to have had a hand in focusing the 2008 Clio Awards and Creative Festival--five days in Miami Beach honoring excellence in advertising, design and interactive--heavily on digital advertising.

Crow works in Manhattan and lives in Chatham, N.J., with her husband of nearly 12 years, Timothy, and their two Labrador retrievers. She enjoys tennis, ping-pong, restoring older homes (including her own) and reading--she recently discovered Japanese author Haruki Murakami. She also reads Photo District News, Successful Meetings, The New Yorker and Real Simple.
