Paul Jowdy Named Publisher of Women’s Wear Daily

By Steve Cohn

Paul Jowdy, who last Thursday (Oct. 27) ended a five-month stint as Every Day with Rachael Ray publisher with the magazine’s sale by Reader’s Digest Association to Meredith Corp., was hired in the same capacity today (Nov. 2) at Women’s Wear Daily.

The announcement was made by Fairchild Fashion Media (FFM) president/CEO (since Jan. 2010) Gina Sanders and chief revenue officer (since April 2010) Will Schenck.  (WWD is the flagship publication of the Condé Nast-owned FFM.)

Part of Jowdy’s new job is assuming the responsibilities of associate publisher Melissa Mattiace, who is joining Entertainment Weekly as associate publisher/sales . Jowdy tells minonline that "I got a call from Gina and Will on Monday, and from there everything moved quickly. I’m very excited about being part of the WWD and Fairchild family." He starts immediately.

Jowdy returns to CN, where he was Bon Appétit VP/publisher from 2005-2011 and then at Details from Jan.-May of this year, before going to Rachael Ray. He was a hire of Sanders when she became Details publisher in 1995.

Ironically, Jowdy’s Rachael Ray successor, Christine Guilfoyle, is also a past WWD publisher (2007-2010).
