John Graney family photoJohn Graney, a 20-year industry veteran, currently serves as Bonnier Corp.’s VP of integrated sales. The Long Island native took on this role in 2014.

Graney, who has sold award-winning programs such as Field & Stream’s Heroes of Conservation and Outdoor Life’s Top 25, is credited with the creation of the Outdoor Group digital network to expand Bonnier’s digital media offerings.

With a career that started on the agency side, Graney has a wealth of experience that he bring to his role, but even the best of us need ways to let off steam. Here, he tells us about how he unwinds after a long day and what he has next to cross off his bucket list.

Last movie I saw: Spiderman

My favorite song currently: “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” by The Slits

My favorite writer: F. Scott Fitzgerald or Ernest Hemingway

My favorite fictional person: Judge Smails

My favorite real person: My wife, Laura.

Last place I traveled to: Miami. We took some clients fishing just two weeks before Irma hit.  It was hard to see the destruction on the news compared to the great weather we had on our trip.

Next thing I have to tackle on my bucket list: I want to take my kids to Europe. Our vacations seem to center around their sport (equestrian) and we need to do something very different.

Social site I spend the most time on: Instagram, Facebook, Bob Dunsire Bagpipe Forums

My favorite thing to do on the weekend: Watch my daughters ride horses.  They are 14 and 11 and are both competitive equestrians. They work so hard at it that I love to watch them when they ride.

How I unwind when I get home from work: We try to have dinner as a family every night that it’s possible. I love hearing about everyone’s day and what the kids did in school….even when getting info from them is like pulling teeth.

What I’m most looking forward to this summer: Getting back into competing with my bagpipe band.  I competed once this summer after a long hiatus from competition and hope to go out a few more times next year.

The person I’d most want to have lunch with, living or dead: Agent Javier Pena who is the main character in the show Narcos. I love the show.
