min Announces Best of the Web Award Winners
Wednesday, April 28, 2010

This morning at the New York's Grand Hyatt, min announced and presented its annual Best of the Web, Most Engaged Media Brands and In-Box Awards. Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Time Inc. and TechWeb were among the media companies bringing home multiple honors.

Min’s long-running Best of the Web Awards recognize digital achievement by magazine brands. Staffs at MSLO and Glamour.com were named Digital Teams of the Year for advancing their respective sites dramatically over the last year. Condé Nast’s Style.com was singled out for a Design award. Women’s site BettyConfidential.com and its edgy, intimate voice won for Editorial Excellence. TechWeb took home awards for Integration with Print and for its Internet Evolution site partnership with IBM. Meredith’s Recipe.com and IAC’s TheDailyBeast.com shared the honor for New Site. Newsweek.com’s magisterial multimedia reflection on the last decade, “20/10: The Decade in Rewind,” won in the Microsite/Custom Website category. People.com was recognized for its use of Twitter as it closes in on 2 million “followers” and for its online contests. Time magazine grabbed awards for best mobile app and for its video series “Assignment Detroit.” And the “Tweeter of the Year” was MSLO’s Martha Stewart.

Min also inducted six leaders of the online charge for magazines into its Digital Hall of Fame: IDG CEO Bob Carrigan, Meredith Interactive head Lauren Wiener, Forbes Media editor Paul Maidment, Hearst's Chuck Cordray, People's Mark Golin and Tanya Wenman Steel of Epicurious.com. Digital Hall of Famer and former leader of Forbes.com Jim Spanfeller gave the keynote address at this morning’s ceremony.

Also honored today were min’s Most Engaged Media Brands for 2010. These 18 magazine brands demonstrated an extraordinary ability to be where their audiences needed them to be and to maintain strong conversations. People, Farm Progress, Sporting News, Internet Evolution, Yoga Journal and Better Homes & Gardens were among the brands recognized for superior relationships with readers. Min singled out Entertainment Weekly as the most engaged brand of the year and named it 2010’s “Match Made in Heaven.”

Finally, min initiated awards for achievement in e-mail publishing this year. The In-Box Award winners among consumer brands include Allrecipes.com, SELF and Parenting. For b2b publishers, winners included TechWeb, EETimes and Zinio.
