Webinar Preview: When is Prime Time for Engagement on Facebook?Wednesday, July 27, 2011 Got your Facebook presence? Check! Assigned staff to cultivate genuine relationships with readers on the social network? Check! Got a new contest you are ready to launch Monday morning on your FB page? Oops! Did you think about the timing of that one? As social media marketing firm BuddyMedia will tell attendees at tomorrow’s (July 28) min Webinar “Social Media for Magazine Brands: Getting Audience Development and Sponsors to the Next Level” not all days on Facebook are created equal. Jennifer Cooley, GM, Ad Solutions will be among four presenters exploring the ins and outs and dos and donts of leveraging social media for magazine brands. As Cooley will outline, Monday on Facebook is crowded with new posts and as a result the engagement rate plummets on programs that launch at the beginning of the week. Tuesday? Better. But if you really want to get and keep people’s attention consider posting on the weekends. And it gets even more granular than that. Words are key, and the language used in posts can engage or disengage your readers from content on social nets. In fact there is even day parting on Facebook. Engagement rates vary in rough counterpoint to the number of brand posts that are made on Facebook during the course of a work day. Timing is everything. Essence certainly got its timing right with a powerful and popular Black Music Month campaign that leveraged readers to find and elect the “Hottest Black Music Superstar on Facebook.” As the magazine’s audience development manager Charlise Ferguson will recount, the campaign grew the title’s FB fan base 62% in 10 days. Tomorrow she will walk us through how they pulled it off. Also on the roster tomorrow are two of the most experienced social media gurus in the publishing world and columnists for min. Kate Byrne is most recently of Future U.S. and currently president of C-Change Media, which she runs with her husband and a social media pioneer in magazine publishing, John Byrne. And Karen Macumber, CEO of SproutShout Media and the former head of the Alloy-owned Amp Agency. The Webinar begins on Thursday July 28 at 1:30 ET and will run roughly until 3:15. Downloadable presentations from our four presenters will be available to the attendees and the entire Webinar will be accessible on demand shortly after.
