U.S. Mobile Adv Revenue to Grow to $3.1 Billion in 2013Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Lest we have any doubts about the potential revenue to be generated from mobile advertising, a forecast of this emerging media platform has confirmed what many suspect: It's a goldmine in waiting. According to a report entitled "Going Mobile: The Mobile Local Media Opportunity," issued by The Kelsey Group, a division of BIA Advisory Services, LLC, U.S. mobile advertising revenue (in both search and display) is expected to grow to $3.1 billion in 2013—from $160 million in 2008. This represents an annual growth rate of 81.2%. Also during this same five-year period, the study is predicting that mobile local search advertising revenues will skyrocket from $20 million to $1.3 billion, signifying an annual growth rate of 130.5%. The percentage of mobile local searches will increase from 28% from 2008 to 35% in 2013. Currently there are 54.5 million mobile Internet users in the United States, representing 25% of online users.
