Time Launches Multi-Platform Election Commemorative Content
Thursday, November 8, 2012
Yesterday (Nov. 7), Time released a special commemorative election cover that captures President Obama celebrating his reelection at a rally early Wednesday morning at the Chicago convention center. For this week’s issue, all of the magazine’s content will be freely available on Time.com.
Time also released a bonus tablet-only election issue for subscribers Wednesday morning. The bonus edition features photos from election day and the campaign trail, reporting from Time.com and exclusive interactive maps featuring house and senate races and ballot initiatives. Non-subscribers can purchase the tablet edition for $2.99 in the iTunes store.
Time is enhancing its election coverage with a range of digital initiatives, including posting “behind the scenes” photos from the campaign trail on Instagram as well as running several photo galleries on Tumblr and Time.com's LightBox, including “A History of the Campaign in 100 Objects.” Looking ahead to the 2016 race, Time is presenting a series of exclusive portraits called “TIME's Class of 2016: The Political Leaders to Watch,” which was shot by Marco Grob. It features the men and women whom Time views as the rising leaders in their party, including Hillary Clinton, Julian Castro, Jeb Bush, Condoleezza Rice, Joe Biden, Mario Cuomo, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, Martin O’Malley, Bobby Jindal, Kirsten Gillibrand, Rahm Emanuel and Nikki Haley.
Along with the release of the special print and digital editions, Time is also leveraging in the widespread social media participation this election has generated by engaging with its 4 million Twitter followers about their personal stories, experiences and photos from Election Day 2012 with the hashtag #TIMEVote.
