BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
TV Guide Tunes In New DesignTuesday, April 13, 2010 TV Guide magazine has relaunched with a new design and content organization geared toward current programming consumption habits. Most noticeably, the magazine content is now organized around days of the week according to a color-coded section that includes the daily programming grid and relevant features for that programming day. A daily “Highlights” section includes editors’ viewing recommendations for the day. As part of the expanded coverage, the magazine shows and suggests options for alternative viewing modes such as DVR recording and online episode catch-ups at Hulu.com or network sites. The look, feel and editorial mix is designed to acknowledge the new and more sophisticated modes of viewing TV that consumers have adopted across platforms and through a number of on-demand channels. The print redesign, which appears on newsstands on April 15, will be followed in coming months by a digital daily e-mail newsletter for subscribers. The newsletter will include links to the magazine Web site and more news and programming information. TVGuideMagazine.com, the Web site for the print brand, is distinct from TVGuide.com, which is owned by One Equity Partners. TV Guide magazine is currently owned by OpenGate Capital. TV Guide says the redesign was driven by extensive research into how people use the magazine and now watch TV content. Subscribers to the weekly watch a staggering 42.1 hours of TV a week, but 60% of them use DVRs for time-shifted viewing off of the typical TV schedule grid. According to their surveys, 93% of readers say they use the magazine to make viewing decisions. ![]() If you have breaking news to share please contact min’s editors.

Love the new layout. It's like the old TV Guide, combined with the new.
