Spin Magazine Editor and Publisher Are OustedTuesday, June 21, 2011 In a June 20 restructuring aimed at unifying Spin magazine's print and digital components, owner (since 2006) Nion McEvoy dismissed the 474,000-circulation music monthly's editor-in-chief Doug Brod and publisher Malcolm Campbell.Winners from the editorial side are Spin creative director Devin Pedzwater, who becomes Spin brand creative director with the additional responsibility of editorial oversight; Spin music editor Charles Aaron, who is elevated to editorial director; and Spin deputy editor Steve Kandell, who is promoted to editor-in-chief. On the business side, Spin associate publisher Mike Albanese steps up to publisher for both print and digital. Joining is the newly hired digital general manager Jeff Rogers, who spent 12 years in Silicon Valley building large-scale Web applications for Fortune 500 companies. Both Brod and Campbell were McEvoy hires four years ago. Brod was a deputy to 2003-2006 Spin editor-in-chief Sia Michel while Campbell returned to Spin after a publisher stint at music-magazine rival Blender, which has since ceased publication in the U.S. Campbell was also Spin publisher from 1999-2001 when 1997-2006 owner Bob Miller complemented it with the urban Vibe.
