SPIN Turns 25: Time to Party

Marking every year of its quarter-century on newsstands with a concert, SPIN magazine will host 25 music events this year. Starting at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Texas this month, the first show will be the SPIN@STUBBS party on March 19. The concert series will end in a July program called “SPIN’s 25 Hours of Music” that will roll out on five consecutive nights at multiple venues in and around New York City.

The music events will be one part of an anniversary schedule that includes editorial features, promotional programs and new products. The SPIN25 microsite will include video from the anniversary events as well as user-generated content and “best of lists,” trivia contests and a mobile component that lets users compete to check in from the most SPIN music events.

The entire archive of SPIN magazines will be released into the Google Books collection of print reproductions. And a SPIN: Greatest Hits book will be published this fall with Wiley. The book will reprint the best writing from the magazine.

Pretty sad how pitiful the music industry is and the Music Magazine Industry. Both Rolling Stone and Spin are not relevant when it comes to music anymore. RS at least has the great political and historical music reporting.

Howie- you say piiful the music industry/music magazine industry is, then say you like politics & historical music reporting in RS is good, you must be that cool 55 year old who Jann is aiming at holding onto. If you were interested in music you would realize that SPIN is covering new & exciting music every month.
