BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Publishers Weekly Sold to Its Former Publisher George W. Slowik, who published the PW brand in the 1980s and 1990s, will be president of the new company. Slowik will retain all current employees, according to a statement from the investment bank facilitating the sale, the Jordan, Edmiston Group. Current publisher Cevin Bryerman and co-editors Jim Milliot and Michael Coffey will continue to serve in those posts. Slowik says he wants to expand PW’s reach into new audiences through digital platforms and international expansion. This sale continues RBI's shedding of media brands. Most recently, the company sold a series of design books to Sandow Media and Library Journal to Media Source. In February, RBI sold several titles in its electronics design catalog to Canon. And in December it sold its broadcast, cable and consumer electronics books to NewBay Media. If you have breaking news to share please contact Steve Smith at ssmith@accessintel.com COMMENTS
