Pearl Awards Give Custom Publishing Nods

If we go by sheer award count, then the 158 winners at this year’s Pearl Awards suggest that the custom publishing world remains vibrant even as much of the consumer and b2b print world struggles. TMG topped the field of publishers with 19 wins, followed by Pace Communications and Rodale Custom Publishing (16 each) and Spafax (12 awards). Time Inc. Content Solutions and Meredith Integrated Marketing (10 awards each) and Leverage Media (9 awards) also collected their share of wins.

Spafax won Best in Custom titles for its enRoute monthly magazine for Air Canada. The Best in Custom award goes to the publication with the best overall ranking among all of the gold winners.

The Custom Publishing Council presents the Pearl Awards. The group says there were 469 entries submitted this year from 57 companies and eight countries.

Awarded to 40 companies in the custom content space, the 2009 Pearl Awards acknowledged achievements in design, editorial and strategic initiatives.
