BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
NYMag Claims Fashion RecordsMonday, September 21, 2009 Fashion Week produces strong traffic among all of the fashion magazine sites in September, but in recent years a number of other publications have plugged into the flow. NYMag.com has been cultivating fashion show coverage across several seasons, and the site reports that traffic was up last week 40% over Fashion Week 2008. For the Sept.10-17 period, NYMag.com served 28 million page views to an average daily unique user audience of 300,000. The tsunami was intense, but not Lindsay Lohan intense. Last week’s traffic bested last year’s NYMag fashion coverage but still ran second to the magazine site’s biggest traffic hit ever—the Bert Stern photo session of Lohan's striking classic Marilyn Monroe poses. Search engine optimization no doubt played some role in the big traffic gains. Anyone Googling “Fashion Week” would have found NYMag’s link listed second, right beneath the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week site. NYMag says advertisers followed the eyeballs this year despite the economic downturn. Revenue for the month was up 18% over same period last year. NYMag’s fashion blog “The Cut” led the charge this year, with a 179% spike in traffic over Fashion Week 2009. If you have breaking news to share please contact Steve Smith at ssmith@accessintel.com
