BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Monique Manso Named People en Español PublisherWednesday, May 18, 2011 Monique Manso, a past Time Inc. VP/sales and corporate sales director, is the new publisher of People en Español. She reports to Michelle Ebanks, who concurrently added the People en Español presidency to that of Essence Manso succeeds Lucia Ballas Traynor, who resigned April 30 to start a Hispanic marketing consultancy. Manso, too, is bilingual, having been Latin American specialist while a media planner/media director at both Ammirati Puris Lintas Worldwide and Ogilvy & Mather. People en Español is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2011. It has to be the only magazine to launch as the result of a murder--that of Tejano star Selena on March 31, 1995. The newsstand success from a People cover story on Selena prompted then-publisher Ann Moore to authorize the spin-off.
