BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Men's Journal Has a New LookFriday, February 3, 2012 Typically, magazine redesigns are the "answer" to problems, but the March 2012 overhaul led by Men's Journal editor (since November 2010) Jason Fine follows the December/January 2011 cover of Daniel Craig selling a record 165,000 copies on the newsstand. If it ain't broke, why fix?"Because I believe the new logo fits better with the content and vibe of the magazine," says Fine of the design that creative director Benjamen Purvis and designer Jim Parkinson adapted in part from European automobile-racing posters during the 1930s. "Until now, there were only slight modifications to the logo over MJ's 20 years, but we were ready for something distinct, cool, elegant, rugged, and modern." Lots of adjectives for a design "that fully complements what we do." (The complete story is in the February 6 min.)
