Memorabilia Inc.: BHG Launches New Pay ServiceWednesday, August 19, 2009 The hunt for new revenue streams that flow directly from the consumer to the publisher continues with Meredith’s launch of BHGLifeinPhotos.com, a photo service that turns favorite images into books, scrapbooks, calendars and other memorabilia. Photo books sell for $15.99 and up; personalized stationary starts at 99 cents apiece for packs of a dozen and up. Recipe books, event announcements and invitations and assorted gifts are also in the catalog. The new e-commerce site under the Better Homes & Gardens brand will be part of Meredith’s Women’s Network. The service is currently featured on the BHG.com home page, the publisher’s flagship destination. It will be folded into the annual BHG “100 Days of Holidays” promotion online this fall and will enjoy print promotion as well. Meredith has partnered with Scan Café, a photo scanning service, and SmileBox, a maker of personalized DVDs and digital videos, to provide the goods. This is one more in a series of diversified revenue products for the publisher. Meredith also operates a series of subscription “clubs” that combine highly targeted content like remodeling ideas and sewing patterns with print subscriptions and online access to specialized content. Meredith recently rebranded its publishing properties as National Media Brands, its TV properties as National Local Brands and its enlarged group of marketing services companies as Meredith Integrated Marketing.
