Kirby Rodriguez Moves from 'O' to Redbook Creative Director

On Aug. 14, three-month Redbook editor-in-chief Meredith Rollins made her first major hire by recruiting two-year O design director Kirby Rodriguez as the monthly's creative director. Rodriguez will be succeeding 4½-year Redbook predecessor Holland Utley when he starts on Sept. 2.
Rodriguez and Rollins were colleagues a decade ago at W where he was art director and she was articles editor. Subsequently, he was Cookie design director during its 2005-2009 run and associate director creative director of photography at the women's fashion retailer Talbots. There, he spearheaded the brand's first national print advertising campaigns.
Rodriguez's O highlight was Sept. 2013's Let's Talk About Hair! , with a well-coiffed Oprah Winfrey on the cover. It won the American Society of Magazine Editors' "Cover of the Year" in the women's-service category.
