Katie Couric Is a Woman's Day ColumnistWednesday, July 18, 2012 Former Today co-host (1991-2006) and CBS Evening News anchor (2006-2010) Katie Couric is about to embark on her third career with the Sept. 10 debut of her syndicated Katie talk show. The next day (Sept. 11), with the  release of the October Woman's Day, comes Couric's debut as a monthly columnist. WD editor-in-chief (since Jan. 2012) Susan Spencer calls Couric "a natural fit for the magazine" in her being a "working mother of two daughters and a crusader for cancer awareness. We're thrilled to bring her genuine warmth, humor and storytelling to the magazine." Couric's activism dates back to the January 1998 passing of husband Jay Monahan from colon cancer. In October of that year, she contributed to three Good Housekeeping articles on the importance of early detection, which won the "Personal Service" National Magazine Award the following May.
