Jean de Boisdeffre Named Hearst Magazines International Senior VP/AdvisorWednesday, February 8, 2012 Jean de Boisdeffre, CEO of Lagardère Active's international magazines' business until the May 31, 2011, closing of Hearst Magazines' acquisition of the Elle- and Woman's Day-flagshipped Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. (part of  Hearst Corp.'s 640 euros/$848 million purchase of Lagardère SCA's non-French magazine properties), became a top lieutenant to Hearst Magazines International (HMI) president/CEO (since 2009) Duncan Edwards with his Feb. 6 hire as senior VP/advisor.De Boisdeffre had been consulting for HMI since the Hachette purchase, and in his full-time role he will focus on partnerships in Europe (particularly Lagardère Active), Asia and Russia. Edwards says that de Boisdeffre will serve "as a point of continuity for our newly acquired colleagues in the local markets around the world.” The Paris- and London-based de Boisdeffre is now a leader in the corporate hierarchy in both cities with Edwards based in New York.
