BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Jason Klein Resigns as Newspaper National Network President/CEO information world. I’ve been delighted to work with such an outstanding team at NNN, and I’m proud of our accomplishments championing newspaper media in such a changing landscape."Much of Klein's pre-NNN career was at Times Mirror Magazines (TMM), where he rose to president/CEO in January 1999 and helped to engineer the sale of the Field & Stream/Golf magazine/Popular Science-flagshipped unit to Tribune Co. in February 2000 (part of the $6.2 billion acquisition of the Los Angeles Times-flagshipped Times Mirror Co.) that was followed in October 2000 by Tribune's $475 million sale of the former TMM to Time Inc. Klein was instrumental in the Time4 Media renaming in March 2001 before his resignation that April. (Time4 Media--except for Golf magazine--was sold to Bonnier Corp. in Jan. 2007.) NNN was formed in the early-1990s by the then-Cathie Black-led Newspaper Association of America to bring more national advertising into newspapers. One of Klein's predecessors was Pat Haegele before she became Good Housekeeping VP/publisher in Jan. 1997.
