Hearst Publishes Oprah TV Bookazine
Thursday, June 23, 2011
Oprah Winfrey ending 25 years on "free" daytime television is celebrated with the bookazine Oprah's Farewell Celebration: Inside 25 Extraordinary Years of The Oprah Winfrey Show. It is produced by the Susan Casey-led editors of O magazine, the 11-year-old joint venture between Winfrey's Harpo Inc. and Hearst Magazines.
Cover lines The Stories You've Never Heard and The People You'll Never Forget should be lures to her millions of fans. The success of O--with 2.5 million circulation, it is said to be Hearst Magazines' second most profitable title after Cosmopolitan--is a further testament to her popularity.
The 148-page bookazine goes from Oprah's daytime tv start (her September 8, 1986, diary entry just eight hours before the premiere) to finish (her May 25, 2011, farewell message on the show's finale). Her broadcast energy is now fully devoted to cable's Oprah Winfrey Network.
Bookazine retails for $11.99 and will be released nationwide on June 28. News comes one month after the plans were first announced.
