Fortune Brainstorm Green event ran both online and live to grow revenue for the series 23% over last year. Among the many luminaries speaking at this year's gathering, one late addition was Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group. But the event also hosted John Podesta, president and CEO, Center for American Progress, Fisk Johnson, chairman and CEO, S. C. Johnson & Son, and the European Commission’s Hom. Connie Hedegaard from the Commission for Climate in action. Over 300 chief executives, policy-makers, investors and analysts participated.
The virtual component of the program, where many live events were streamed live online, attracted over 3,000 registrants, up 30% from last year. Sponsors included AT&T, Dell, Shell and UPS. In fact as part of the show UPS set up a carbon neutral shipping site so participants could ship home a box without impacting the environment. AT&T provided data access for attendees and their Blackberrys and iPhones.
Fortune says that the show not only exceeded last year’s in attendance and sponsor support, but there was even a waiting list for inclusion. The virtual event is accessible online. Videos from the Fortune Brainstorm Green conference will be available on demand.
NOTE: The story has been updated with corrected statistics. the revenue increase over last year's event was 23%, not the 32% previously cited.
