EW and ESPN Get EPpy NodsFriday, May 8, 2009 While the annual Editor & Publisher/MediaWeek EPpy Awards focus mainly on the newspaper industry’s online initiatives, some of the glory falls off to magazine brands as well. At yesterday’s 2009 EPpy Awards luncheon, 32 winners were announced from a field of 97 finalists. Entertainment Weekly’s EW.com won in the Best National Magazine-Affiliated Web Site category. And ESPN.com brought back two EPpy awards, one for Best Network TV/Cable-Affiliated Web Site and another for Best Sports Web Site with more than 1 million uniques. About.com won Best Design of a Web Site. WSJ.com won as Best Newspaper-Affiliated Web Site in the over 1 million uniques category. One of the oldest awards recognizing digital achievements, the EPpys have been running for 14 years. The full list of winners is available at the site.
