Dick Porter Leaves Publishing Group of America

Dick Porter, CEO of American Profile/Relish/Spry parent Publishing Group of America since November 2002, has left the company to, per the statement, "pursue other opportunities."  Successor is John Cobb III, the past Source Interlink Media senior VP/digital who has been working as a consultant for PGA "on a digital strategy."

Porter's PGA reign was marked by the explosive growth of the three newspaper magazines. The general interest American Profile, which launched in 2000 and largely serves newspapers in small markets has 10 million circulation. The epicurean Relish and health-focused Spry are in large- and small-market papers with respective circs of 15.5 million and 8.5 million. Their 2006 and 2007 launches came under Porter.

Porter is also the past publisher of Prevention (1989-1993), Reader's Digest (1998) and TV Guide (1998-2000). He was inducted into min's Sales Executive Hall of Fame in June 2007.
