Cuts at TV Guide Include Publisher Haeffner

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Pete Haeffner, TV Guide publisher since October 2005, left with four colleagues today (October 1) in a cost-cutting move by parent OpenGate Capital. Among the others affected were associate publisher/sales Gary Kleinman and associate publisher/marketing Mindy Nathanson. Apparently, the sales and marketing responsibilities for the beleaguered TVG are being turned over to consultants.

News follows TVG president Scott Crystal leaving the magazine on May 30 and filing a $2.67 million breach-of-contract suit in New York State Supreme Court on July 7 (min, July 13, 2009). Former Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S. president Jack Kliger is serving as an OpenGate adviser and acting TVG CEO.
