CQ Press’ First Street Hunts for Politcos: From Twitter to K StreetThursday, March 24, 2011 The upcoming information resource and database for Washington insiders, First Street, is launching a major marketing initiative across a novel range of fronts. The CQ Press brand is designed for Congressional staff, lobbyists, and government agencies and this marketing campaign in advance of the April launch will try to find them wherever they may travel, from Washington D.C. nightspots to social networks. In addition to advertising in the usual suspects, Washington Post, National Journal and local DC public radio, the team will be pushing content updates to Facebook and Twitter pages to get the word out. Interesting data points and research are already being posted to the company’s Facebook page. Twitter posts involving lobbyist news are also being fed onto the micro-blog. For live events, the First State brand will be present at monthly sales breakfasts at CQ Press’s DC headquarters and a product lunch cocktail reception at the Association of College and Research Libraries conference in Philadelphia at the end of March. A party at the Art & Soul restaurant will be part of the mix, as will good old fashioned direct mailings to lobbyists and Congress offices. First Street will include material dating from 1993 onward: federal staff directories, lobbyist registrations, Federal Election Commission and election data. Lobbyists will be able to track Congressional and agency staff to see what bills they worked on in the past. A First Street Coalition Builder will create maps that show connections among staff so the user can understand the relationships and legislative connections. A screenshot of a sample Coalition Builder map is above. If you have breaking news to share please contact min’s editors.
