BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
April Nat Geo Mag Is Free OnlineWednesday, March 24, 2010 To commemorate the United Nations' designation of March 22 as World Water Day, National Geographic is offering free downloads of its April 2010 "Water: Our Thirsty World" single-topic issue through April 2. Zinio is the magazine's digital partner. The issue's release comes after what appeared to be a water-bountiful winter in the United States with rain and snow throughout, but, statistically, NG reports that nearly 1 billion people on Earth have no access to clean water, with 3.3 million people dying from water-related health problems annually. All is explained by the maps and charts that have made NG famous for 122 years, but now they are interactive. Also, NG has set up a portal for further information, and parent National Geographic Society named Sandra Postel its first "Freshwater Fellow." She is director and founder of the Global Water Policy Project. If you have breaking news to share please contact Steve Smith at ssmith@accessintel.com
