BREAKING NEWS & VIEWS
Alan Nichols Named CEO of Spin Media Nichols was CFO of the McEvoy-run Chronicle Publishing Group in San Francisco, and he also is a past executive at RJR Equity Partners, Black Entertainment Television, and First Boston. Nion McEvoy bought the 450,000 rate-base Spin from Miller Publishing for a reported $5 million in March 2006. Bob Guccione, Jr., launched the music monthly in 1985, and it has an edgier reputation (more grunge, heavy metal, etc.) than Rolling Stone. McEvoy Group's acquisition of Spin was concurrent with the Wicks Group buying Vibe from Miller. Last week, it was announced that Intermedia Group would relaunch Vibe this fall after it suspended publication on June 30.
